Megan Miller began her teaching career at Hanawalt in 2014. She earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education from Iowa State University and her Master’s Degree in Culturally Proficient Leadership and Instruction from Drake University. Megan’s favorite things include teaching first grade, practicing yoga, cheering for the St. Louis Blues, and relaxing with her two dogs: Axel and Luna.
Beth Nordmeyer has taught at Hanawalt since 2005. Previously, she taught in the West Des Moines, Jesup, and Perry School Districts. Her undergraduate and graduate degrees in education are from the University of Northern Iowa. She has three sons who went to Hanawalt, Merrill, and graduated from Roosevelt High School. Mrs. Nordmeyer is dedicated to public education in Des Moines where she is excited to be a part of the Hanawalt family.
Class Description
Gwen Roth-Rauen has been teaching well over twenty years, primarily in Kindergarten and 1st grade, but in other grades as well. She has been a nurse for 31 years and keeps her license current to stay on top of current areas of child development and for further education. She has two grown sons, Michael and Zachary and a daughter, Sophia. She lives in Des Moines’ Beaverdale neighborhood with two large dogs and two large tomcats. Ms. Roth loves her job and thanks all the Hanawalt families, students and staff for this amazing experience every day!
