Courtney Ihnen

Music Educator



Courtney Ihnen is originally from West Des Moines, Iowa. She graduated from Valley High School and then attended Wartburg College in Waverly, Iowa. While at Wartburg she participated heavily in campus organizations and activities, such as Student Alumni Council, Homecoming Committee, Wartburg Choir, Feed My Starving Children, Service Trips, and Intramural Sports. Her senior year she was named to the 2011 Who's Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges. After completing all requirements for her music education license, she continued on for a six month, unpaid AMTA-approved Music Therapy internship. Offered the position at The Fraser School in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Courtney served clients in an inclusive environment with varying abilities such as: Autism, Cerebral Palsy, Down Syndrome, Mental Disorders, and Behavior Disorders. Following graduation Courtney passed the music therapy national board exam administered by the CBMT and acquired the credentials Music Therapist-Board Certified (MT-BC). Courtney is enthusiastic about working with the students of Hanawalt as the K - 5 music educator.
