Jill DeLancey joined the Hanawalt Staff in 2017 as the Reading Interventionist after being home with her two children for five years. Prior to that, she was a classroom teacher for 17 years in San Antonio, Iowa City and Johnston. She earned her undergraduate degree from the University of Northern Iowa, a Master’s Degree and Reading Endorsement from Viterbo University, and a Talented and Gifted Endorsement from Morningside College. Throughout her teaching career, she has taught 1st, 2nd and 3rd grades and loves teaching reading. In her free time, she loves traveling, biking, running with her dog, reading and spending time outside with her husband and two children.
Meredith Bell has worked for Des Moines Public Schools since 2011. She loves getting to know the students, staff, parents and families in the Hanawalt community. She is thankful for her experiences teaching at Central Campus High School Intensive English Language Center and Merrill Middle School before coming to Hanawalt.
English Language Learners (ELL) is a program supporting students in language objectives in the areas of listening, speaking, reading and writing. There are more than 12 languages spoken in the Hanawalt community, and more than 100 languages spoken in the households that make up DMPS! Hanawalt is delighted to hold a culturally rich and diverse population, where every student has a story. Randi McNally began her teaching career in Denver, Colorado, in 1997. Over the years, she has taught 3rd-5th grade for Denver Public Schools and PreK at Plymouth Nursery School. She has been a substitute for Des Moines Public Schools since 2016, spending most of her time at Hanawalt. From 2020-2022, Randi was the Children’s Ministry Director at Central Presbyterian Church. She became a full-time teacher at Hanawalt in 2022. Randi and her husband live in Des Moines and have three adult children. She holds degrees from Iowa State and University of Denver, as well as a Reading Endorsement from Morningside College.
Scot has been in education since 1996. His educational journey started in his hometown of Denison, IA, where he taught elementary for 10 years. His tenure in Des Moines has consisted of teaching assignments at Goodrell and Harding Middle Schools, and two years as an Instructional Technology Coordinator. He loves working with the Hanawalt community as Hanawalt’s first Media Technology Integrationist. He is an alumi of the University of Northern Iowa, where he met his wife. He is a father of 4 boys that have all been made to be die-hard fans of the Chicago Cubs. He spends his summer coaching his sons in baseball and coaching a local high school team.

Tiffany has been in the social work field since 2004, a SUCCESS case manager in the district since 2018, and has been supporting families at both Hanawalt Elementary and Greenwood Elementary since 2020. She earned her undergraduate degree from Creighton University and graduate degree from Upper Iowa University.
