Hanawalt 5th graders Bella Keefe, Noah Anderson, Cecile Lorenzen, Elena Busik and Sebastian Grannes earned first place in the the annual DMPS Quiz Bowl held on Friday, December 6. Hanawalt Elementary School, along with Des Moines Public Schools, Polk County, and other community partners, held a celebration today of the first phase of our school’s “community recess,” a conservation and recreation initiative. When schools reopen for business on August 22, Hanawalt Elementary School will be uniquely equipped to get the new year off and running, thanks to a new track that was laid on the school’s grounds this summer.
