Second Annual Read-a-thon Final Results

Hawk Families,

Again, our school community has BLOWN US AWAY by the support and generosity of our Hanawalt friends and families! Our second annual Read-a-Thon was once more a great success! Be on the watch out for new and exciting things happening in our Media Center! The Read-a-thon was not only about helping out the media center, but about the hundreds of thousands of minutes reading that we recorded! To be exact, 348 readers read 193,464 recorded minutes! The Read-a-thon was capped off with our second annual “Dress Like Your Favorite Book Character Day.” Staff and students became creative with their characters. We even had a visit from the character Dog Man from the book series with the same name by Dav Pilkey.  Part of the prizes that were given out allowed all students to visit the media center book fair and choose one book for free.  The school day ended with a celebration in the gym to recognize all of our accomplishments.

THANK YOU for all you did to make this fundraiser so successful…and stay tuned for the great improvements we will make to the Media Center!!
