Concert

This spring the music room was full of singing, playing recorders and a world drumming pilot project. On Monday the season was capped off with the third, fourth and fifth grade Spring Music Concert. Third and fourth graders showed off all eight solfege hand signs in “Solfege Sounds” and moved the audience with their version of “Bless Our Troops”. Fifth grade received a standing ovation at the end of their portion of the concert after sharing three different types of world drumming techniques with songs; “Double, double”, “Hiccups” and “Harambee”. After writing a grant to the Des Moines Public School Foundation and financial support from the Hanawalt PTA the music room bought five brand new world drums for this pilot project. A huge thank you to these groups for their support in Hanawalt’s fine arts. And a job well done to all the students.
